ZENOAH/CY 'FAILSAFE' ENGINE KILL SWITCH
For Use with Standard PWM/PPM Radio Control Protocol. Specifically designed for Zenoah/CY Petrol Engines with either PCI Electronic Ignition Systems (uses 4.8v Battery Pack) or C.D.I. Type Magneto Ignition which require the 'CB' (Contact Breaker) Circuit taken to Earth to 'Kill' (Switch-Off) the engine. Introducing yet another quality product from the same stable as our very successful RC Switch and Control Products, we introduce our latest design in fail-safe control technology. A 'micro' sized hand crafted Surface Mount Technology (SMT) all British made module. The Zenoah Fail-safe Kill Switch specifically for the discerning 'Petrol-Heads’ amongst us boasts a triple action features to ensure that the engine on your precious craft is shut down whenever there is a problem with your RC signal, electrics or simply when you just want to call time. The Kill Switch is installed on a switched R/C receiver channel which either causes a ‘Short Circuit’ across the Kill Line (Refer to Drawing 3 in the Product Information Sheets), effectively killing the engine when the Transmitter switch is thrown, or breaks the circuit to the Electronic Ignition System causing the engine to stop likewise. Secondly, it constantly analyses the incoming RC signal pulses using a micro-controller looking for any problems with signal strength quality or integrity. If the Signal strength or quality is poor or missing, the circuit places the same condition onto the Engine Ignition System once again, safely killing the engine. Finally, the same outcome occurs when DC power is lost from RC the control system, thus making this one of the most versatile Failsafe device available. The kill-switch can also be used with the same safety features without a Switched Channel. You can call time by simply turning off your RC Transmitter. This will effectively throw the module into an error mode and shut down the vehicle. Very useful on Two Channel RC equipment. Features include:-

The Connections allow for both Normally Open and Normally Closed circuit operations. CONNECTION PROTOCOL TRUTH TABLE The following Truth Table explains the results when either of the three signal conditions arise:-
As can be seen, in normal engine run condition the Transmitter switch will be in the ‘OFF’ Position, to where the Normally Closed (N.C.) Contact will be open allowing the C.D.I. Type Magneto Ignition System to operate (Drawing 3 refers in the Product Information Sheets). Any other condition will kill the ignition and stop the engine.. In the instance of the Electronic Ignition version, the supply from the Ignition battery pack is connected across the Normally Open (N.O.) Contact (Drawing 2 refers in the Product Information Sheets) giving the same result over the three conditions. This module can be used successfully with 2 Channel RC Systems and activated to 'Kill' the engine by switched off the Transmitter. |
