Re: Lighting Kit
By Keith November 17, 2012 20:58Hi John, and thank you kindly for your comments. It is really good when we receive feedback and praise. Good Point about the Plug and Socket orientation. We will amend the drawings accordingly, however as you found out nothing happens if you plug it in the wrong way around – it just doesn’t work!

Lighting Kit
By John Tybjerg November 17, 2012 20:52Dear Folks at Mr RC World,
Many thanks for the Nav Light kit which arrived in todays post, and for supplying the one long lead LED for the Masthead Light. Being the original Technophobe, and very prone to Murphy’s law, I have one small suggestion.
My immediate thought on unpacking the bits was “which way round does the pin on the LED lead plug onto the pins” and “if I get it wrong will I blow the LED”. I reckoned that if all went wrong I could get by with two of the three short lead white LED’s so connected it up to my receiver and gave it a go. First attempt gave me no light but on putting the plug in the other way round the LED came on and everything switched ok!
Would it be possible to put a short note somewhere on the instructions to say 1) which way round the plug should go (i.e. black lead on the side where you can see the pcb) and 2) if you get it wrong the lights will not work but no damage will be done to the LED. Just a thought but it would have reassured me.
Overall though an impressive piece of kit which takes all the worry of trying to sort out LED’s and resistors away.
The Foghorn I purchased a couple of weeks ago for my Tug is brilliant. The Tug has a 7 inch open funnel of similar diameter to the speaker and I blast it straight up the funnel into the open air. No sound loss inside the hull.
Many thanks again for an excellent service.
Yours Sincerely
John Tybjerg
